Across the Gentle River
Guha the boatman rowed Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana across the wide river.
The little boat glided over the calm water. Fish splashed. The sun shone softly.
When they reached the other side, Rama turned to Guha. "Thank you, dear friend," he said. "You helped us with all your heart."
Rama had no gold to give, so he gave Guha something better — a warm hug and a thankful smile.
Guha felt richer than a king, just from Rama's kind thanks.
